Copyright Clash: KK Attorneys Take on Madness Entertainment
A high-stakes copyright dispute has erupted in Malawi’s music industry, as KK Attorneys issued a formal legal notice to Madness Entertainment over alleged infringement involving two popular tracks.
The letter, signed by Counsel Phillip Junior Mpesi, accuses Madness Entertainment’s artist Kineo Madness of copying elements from “Yaya”, a song released in 2024 by musician Chygo Adz. The disputed track, “Kwa Neba”, is said to bear substantial similarities to Chygo Adz’s original work.
The Demands
KK Attorneys, acting on behalf of Chygo Adz, have demanded:
– Removal of “Kwa Neba” from all streaming platforms within 24 hours.
– A public apology acknowledging the infringement.
– Payment of MWK 100,000,000 (One Hundred Million Malawian Kwacha) in damages.
The letter warns that if these demands are not met, legal proceedings will commence on Monday, March 9, 2026, with Madness Entertainment liable for court costs.
